Tips of Regaining Control in your Life
If life overwhelms you, there is a high likelihood that it is tied in with your sense of control. For many people, the moment you feel the control of your time slipping through your fingers, almost everything can start to feel like a massive burden weighing you down. If things you are responsible for beginning to feel burdensome, here are some ways of refocusing.
Have Trade-Off Limits
Everyone has chores that they have to do that aren’t exactly gripping. If you try your best to exercise good time management, but your long to-do list is still overwhelming you, then you need to start putting limits on your trade-offs. Unless a routine task is essential; it won’t bring you benefits in the end then you have better things that you should be doing. Try to decide what you will and will not do. Good negotiators have clear ideas about what they will, and won’t renounce before the sit-downs begin. If you find out that all your plans always go awry, then this is obviously a habit that you should try to keep.
Seek the Assistance of Others
If you are always feeling out control due to the number of the item on your to-do list then you have the different problem. Many professional life coaches like Joe Ranieri are always talking to people who cannot trust those around them to help. Many individuals who feel overwhelmed are in fact hellbent on being in control to the extent that they won’t let anyone help in any of their responsibilities. If your to-do list has much stuff on it, try to figure out someone who would be willing to take this work or at least help. In a professional environment, there may be nobody who is good at the job as you are, but you can teach them how to do it satisfactorily.
Establish your Priorities as a Habit
Successful people in the world make a daily habit out of prioritizing the things that they do and planning their day out around these priorities. Every morning, give yourself five to ten minutes and set priorities for yourself even if it is on a work day. Think of all the meetings that you must attend and anything else that you want to complete the process of the day. It is from this that you can draw up a priority list and plan out your day with the time you have effectively. As the day goes by, make a stop after some time and determine whether you are or not following your priority list.
